Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, in an interview with the South China Morning Post, stated that Hong Kong has the potential to become a major hub for virtual assets, comparable to markets like the U.S. and UAE. However, Zhao emphasized that Hong Kong regulators need to act swiftly to realize this potential. He suggested that an immediate change should be to expand the range of cryptocurrencies that licensed exchanges in Hong Kong are allowed to trade. Zhao advocated for a model similar to Japan's, where exchanges have the autonomy to decide which tokens can be traded.
