Bhutan has transferred 90 Bitcoin, valued at $7 million, to a SegWit address, indicating potential sales or internal custody adjustments. Since the start of 2026, Bhutan has moved $237.39 million in Bitcoin to SegWit addresses, reducing its holdings to $234.03 million. This activity is part of a strategic drawdown managed by Druk Holding & Investments, Bhutan's investment arm, which is converting digital assets into fiat for domestic use. At its peak, Bhutan's Bitcoin reserves were estimated at 13,000 BTC, worth nearly $2 billion by the end of 2024. However, holdings have now decreased to approximately 4,973 BTC. Bhutan ranks seventh globally in Bitcoin holdings, following significant sell-offs, including $40 million in early April 2026. This systematic reduction aligns with Bhutan's strategy to finance national needs without disrupting the market.
