Financial app Betterment issued a warning after users received unauthorized notifications urging them to send $10,000 to Bitcoin and Ethereum wallets with a promise of tripling their investment. The fraudulent messages, which appeared on Friday, claimed Betterment was celebrating its best year by offering to return three times the amount deposited in cryptocurrency within three hours.
Betterment clarified on social media platform X that these messages were not legitimate and were sent through a third-party system used for marketing and customer communication. The company advised users to disregard the scam notifications and assured them that the offer was not genuine.
