The Beijing People’s Procuratorate has released a white paper detailing 113 intellectual property cases involving AI and data industries in 2025, marking significant legal precedents. Among these, the Dongcheng District Procuratorate prosecuted an individual for illegally deleting AI model training data, establishing AI systems as "computer information systems" under criminal law. This case clarifies the legal status of AI training data, previously ambiguous under existing laws. Additionally, the Tongzhou District Procuratorate convicted four individuals of copyright infringement for using AI to replicate works without authorization. These landmark cases highlight Beijing's proactive stance in addressing legal challenges posed by AI technologies. Overall, Beijing handled 1,195 intellectual property cases in 2025, reflecting a 10.34% increase from the previous year.
