Base has activated its Cobalt network upgrade, introducing new functionality for B20 token issuers with seizure capabilities enabled. The update allows issuers to transfer seized balances directly to another wallet instead of burning them.
Each transfer now includes an onchain note documenting the action, providing transparent record-keeping for seized asset movements. This change replaces the previous burn mechanism with a redirectable seizure process for compliant token issuers on the Base L2 network.
