Barclays has appointed Wee Yee Yeong, head of Morgan Stanley's Singapore wealth management business, as its new head of wealth management for Singapore and Asia. The British bank is simultaneously resuming operations at its Singapore booking center as part of its regional expansion strategy. Wee is scheduled to join Barclays in December, succeeding Evonne Tan who departed in April to become CEO of Asia wealth management at Schroders. The hire signals Barclays' renewed focus on strengthening its private banking presence in the Asian market.
