The Bank of Korea has initiated a pilot program for round-the-clock won settlement services targeting foreign investors. Full operational deployment of the continuous settlement system is scheduled for January 2027. The central bank expects the enhanced settlement infrastructure to improve foreign investor access and strengthen the international standing of the South Korean won. The initiative aims to remove traditional banking hour limitations for cross-border transactions involving the local currency.
