Banco Inter and Chainlink have successfully completed a blockchain-based pilot enabling real-time cross-border trade settlement between Brazil and Hong Kong using central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). This initiative, part of Brazil's Drex digital currency project, connected Brazil's Drex network with Hong Kong's Ensemble platform. Chainlink's technology facilitated seamless fund and asset record transfers across jurisdictions in a single automated workflow.
The pilot tested delivery-versus-payment (DvP) and payment-versus-payment (PvP) models, allowing for conditional and installment-based payments. Key participants included Standard Chartered, the Global Shipping Business Network (GSBN), and 7COMm. The project aims to enhance the trade finance ecosystem by reducing costs and improving coordination.
