Baidu has announced its sponsorship of the OpenClaw open-source project, marking it as the first major Chinese tech company to support the 'Lobster' ecosystem. The announcement was made on GitHub by Baidu's Open Source Office on March 14. This move follows an invitation from OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger, who encouraged Baidu to not only deploy but also support the project's development. Baidu's sponsorship will see funds fully allocated to community contributors and upstream open-source projects, benefiting developers who contribute code, fix bugs, and create skill plugins. Additionally, Baidu plans to integrate its document parsing capabilities, based on PaddleOCR, into the OpenClaw ecosystem, allowing developers to utilize these features within Agent workflows.
