Anthropic has announced the launch of its "Anthropic STEM Fellow" program, a summer research initiative aimed at enhancing the research capabilities of its AI model, Claude. The program, running from June 15 to September 15, invites STEM researchers to work full-time at Anthropic's San Francisco office, offering a stipend of approximately $3,800 per week. Applications close on May 15. The fellows will collaborate with Anthropic's internal teams to achieve three main objectives: developing robust scientific evaluations for Claude, addressing data and methodological gaps, and integrating scientific software into real-world research workflows. The initiative aims to advance Claude's ability to function as an "AI scientist," capable of independently conducting scientific research in fields such as materials science and climate science.
