Andy Burnham has been elected as the leader of the UK Labour Party and is set to become the next Prime Minister. The announcement was made at a special conference on July 17. Burnham will succeed Keir Starmer following his appointment by King Charles III. Starmer is expected to submit his resignation to the King on July 20, after which Burnham will officially assume the role of Prime Minister. Burnham, aged 56, previously served as the Mayor of Greater Manchester. He emerged as the sole formal candidate in the Labour Party leadership election, securing the support of the majority of Labour MPs.
