The American Bankers Association (ABA) has criticized a report by the White House Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) on stablecoins, arguing it overlooks significant policy risks. The ABA warns that the rapid expansion of yield-bearing payment stablecoins could lead to deposit outflows from community banks, increased funding costs, and tightened local credit availability. The association contends that the CEA's focus on the impact of prohibiting yields diminishes the systemic risks posed by the large-scale adoption of yield-bearing stablecoins.
