AMD and Microsoft have announced an expanded partnership to enhance AI infrastructure on Microsoft's Azure platform. The collaboration will see Microsoft integrate AMD's Helios rack-scale AI infrastructure, which is powered by AMD Instinct™ MI455X accelerators, into its Azure services. This move is part of Microsoft's ongoing investment in Azure AI infrastructure, aiming to support large-scale AI training, inference, and other advanced workloads. The AMD Helios platform combines AMD Instinct™ MI455X accelerators, next-generation AMD EPYC™ processors, AMD Pensando™ networking technology, and the ROCm™ software ecosystem. Additionally, Microsoft plans to introduce new Azure infrastructure products utilizing 6th Gen AMD EPYC processors, targeting high-demand applications such as AI data systems and semiconductor design. This partnership is designed to offer customers more infrastructure options and facilitate the transition of AI from experimental stages to full-scale production deployments.
