Amazon Prime has agreed to a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to resolve allegations of deceptive subscription practices. The settlement includes a $1 billion fine to the FTC and $1.5 billion in refunds to around 35 million customers, with each eligible for up to $51. Additionally, Amazon will implement clearer consent mechanisms and simplify the cancellation process for Prime subscriptions. This settlement concludes a two-year legal battle and sets a regulatory precedent for subscription services.
