At the time, Airwallex's annual revenue was approximately $2 million, valuing the offer at 600 times its revenue. Despite the potential for Zhang to gain over $2 billion personally, the team opted to continue independently. Airwallex has since grown significantly, with its annual recurring revenue now reaching $1 billion and a recent funding round raising $330 million, boosting its valuation to $8 billion.
