The American Innovation Project (AIP) has announced a new fellowship program aimed at placing cryptocurrency experts in US Congress offices. This initiative seeks to bridge the knowledge gap between blockchain technology specialists and federal lawmakers, coinciding with the Republican-led 119th Congress's efforts to advance comprehensive crypto legislation. The program will provide participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical legislative experience, focusing on cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and defense technology. The fellowship begins with an intensive online training course, followed by a twelve-month placement in Congressional offices, specifically with members of the Financial Services and Agriculture Committees. These committees are pivotal in shaping cryptocurrency regulation, overseeing securities, banking, and commodity futures trading. The program, backed by major industry players like Coinbase and Andreessen Horowitz, aims to enhance legislative outcomes by providing balanced, comprehensive information rather than advocacy. Applications for the fellowship opened in February 2025, with the first cohort expected to include 15 to 25 participants. The program's launch is strategically timed to coincide with active legislative debates on the Digital Asset Market Structure Act and the Digital Commodities Consumer Protection Act, providing real-time learning opportunities for fellows.
