Sumsub's latest Identity Fraud Report forecasts a significant rise in AI-driven fraud by 2026, with complex multi-step attacks increasing by 180% year-on-year, now comprising 28% of all fraud cases. AI forgeries, previously negligible, have grown to 2% of fraud incidents. While the global identity fraud rate remains steady at 2.2%, regional disparities are evident. Europe and North America have seen declines in fraud rates, whereas Asia-Pacific and the Middle East report increases of 16.4% and 19.8%, respectively. The report underscores a shift towards more complex fraud tactics, with 75% of respondents anticipating increased AI usage.
