AI recruitment startup Dex has successfully raised $5.3 million in a seed funding round led by Notion Capital, with contributions from a16z Speedrun, Concept Ventures, and angel investors from OpenAI and other firms. This latest funding brings Dex's total capital to $8.4 million. Founded by former Atomico advisor Paddy Lambros, Dex operates as an "AI talent agent," targeting high-end technical talent such as AI researchers and software engineers. The platform has registered over 15,000 engineers and serves more than 50 tech companies, including ElevenLabs and Synthesia.
Dex's innovative approach involves interacting with candidates via voice or text, utilizing models from OpenAI and Anthropic to build profiles, and matching them with employers through a proprietary engine. Unlike traditional recruitment firms, Dex charges a fee of 20%-30% of the candidate's salary upon successful placement rather than selling software to companies. Since implementing its fee structure in late 2025, Dex has reported an annualized revenue of approximately $1.8 million and is on track to achieve profitability this year.
