ADP Research has started publishing weekly U.S. employment data, offering high-frequency insights into the labor market during the ongoing government shutdown. Released every Tuesday at 8:15 PM Beijing time, the data is a four-week moving average of private-sector employment changes, with the latest report showing an average of 14,250 new jobs added for the week ending October 11. This initiative comes as official economic data releases are paused due to the shutdown.
Previously, ADP shared this data with the Federal Reserve, but stopped after it was cited in a speech by Fed Governor Waller. The weekly reports cover approximately 20% of the U.S. private workforce. ADP's monthly employment report for October is scheduled for release on November 5.
