Aave Labs has launched Aave V4 on the Ethereum mainnet, introducing a new architecture aimed at enhancing scalability and flexibility in onchain lending. The core innovation of V4 is its hub and spoke model, where a central liquidity hub holds assets while connected spoke markets can define their own collateral types and risk settings. This allows diverse lending environments to share a single pool of capital, facilitating a range of use cases from institutional markets to strategy-focused environments.
At launch, V4 includes three liquidity hubs—Core, Prime, and Plus—alongside e-Mode spokes for correlated collateral and borrowed assets. Aave Pro, a new interface for V4, offers users a unified view across hubs and spokes. The rollout features conservative supply and borrow caps, which will be adjusted by governance as usage increases. Aave, which has processed over $1 trillion in loans, remains a leader in DeFi lending, with V4 undergoing extensive audits and testing to ensure security and reliability.
