Aave Labs has introduced Aave Checkpoint, a governance security system that employs AI to automatically review DAO proposals. The system requires at least two human reviewers to verify proposals before they can be executed on-chain. This initiative aims to prevent errors such as incorrect parameter entries, hidden code vulnerabilities, or malicious operations within proposals. Since its implementation in March 2026, all governance proposals have been processed through this system.
Aave Checkpoint's review scope extends beyond standard contract vulnerabilities, focusing on common DeFi risks. These include oracle manipulation, liquidation logic anomalies, flash loan attack vectors, proxy upgrade security, and unintended interactions with adjacent governance modules.
