Osaka Prefectural Police have arrested three men suspected of laundering billions of yen through cryptocurrencies. The suspects allegedly facilitated money laundering for an investment fraud group by converting approximately 14 million yen from 10 victims into stablecoins and other crypto assets, obscuring the illicit funds' origins.
The suspects, identified as over-the-counter crypto traders, conducted peer-to-peer transactions to bypass licensed exchanges. Authorities believe this operation is part of a larger criminal network involved in extensive crypto money laundering activities across Japan.
