The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) have formalized their efforts to harmonize regulatory frameworks through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Announced at the Futures Industry Association Conference by SEC Commissioner Paul S. Atkins, the MOU aims to align regulatory definitions, coordinate oversight, and facilitate secure data sharing between the two agencies. This collaboration seeks to provide market participants with clearer and more consistent regulatory guidance.
