Tether has frozen over $544 million in cryptocurrency assets following a request from Turkish regulators. The assets are linked to a suspected illegal online gambling and money laundering network. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino confirmed the action, emphasizing the company's commitment to global compliance and cooperation with law enforcement agencies, including the US Department of Justice and the FBI. According to analytics firm Elliptic, Tether and Circle have blacklisted approximately 5,700 wallets, freezing a total of about $2.5 billion in assets by the end of 2025. Of these frozen assets, around two-thirds are in USDT, highlighting Tether's significant role in regulatory enforcement efforts.
