The Bank of England is set to introduce regulations for stablecoins by the end of 2026, with a public consultation scheduled to commence on November 10, 2025. The proposed regulatory framework will draw inspiration from U.S. guidelines, mandating that reserve assets primarily consist of government bonds with maturities of less than three months. Additionally, the framework will permit interest-bearing assets to encourage issuers and bolster demand for U.K. sovereign debt.
