What Is Pepina (PEPINA)? A Frog Meme Coin on Ethereum

Key Points

What is Pepina? A new frog meme coin on Ethereum, where 45 wallets bought 89% of the supply in its first trading block in late October 2026.

Pepina (PEPINA) is a frog meme coin on Ethereum, launched in late October 2026, and 45 wallets bought about 89% of its supply in the block that opened trading. It's a new ERC-20 token, separate from PEPE and from Pepinu, an older Ethereum token with a similar name.

Pepina closed late October at $0.02526 on CoinGecko, 159% above its close a day earlier. Its one pool turned over $7.75 million that day while holding only about $430,000 of liquidity at the close. The launch-block wallets sold a net 167 million tokens into the jump, about 17% of the supply, and still owned about 40% when the day ended.

What Is Pepina (PEPINA)?

Pepina is a meme token built around a frog character, and its CoinGecko description keeps the pitch short. It opens with "Pepina is here to bring a new face to the frog meme universe" and says there's "no complicated story, no promises of riches" behind it. CoinGecko files the coin under Meme, Ethereum Ecosystem and Frog-Themed.

The character borrows from Pepe the Frog, the meme behind PEPE, a separate token covered in our guide to what PEPE coin is and how to trade it.

What Does Pepina Mean?

In crypto, Pepina is a female spin on Pepe, and the name plays on the original frog. CoinGecko's description says the character "adds a feminine twist to the legendary Pepe-inspired meme culture". Outside crypto, Pepina is also a given name with no link to the token.

Pepina was among CoinGecko's most-searched coins in late October 2026, after a 159.3% jump on the late-October close. It closed at $0.02526 on CoinGecko, up from $0.009739 a day earlier, the highest of its three settled daily closes to late October. GeckoTerminal's daily bars for the pool show +158.7%, and the pool's own price on chain agrees at about +159%.

The wider meme market fell on the same day. On Phemex's perpetual futures, 1000PEPE lost 5.02% and WIF lost 3.67%, while ETH slipped 1.26% and BTC 0.92%. So the buying was specific to Pepina, with no lift from the sector.

Pepina's CoinGecko description, the project's own website and a web news search carry no dated announcement on or before the late-October close. On chain, the pool saw no liquidity added or removed that day, and the lock didn't change. The token's X account is closed to readers without a login.

The jump started early on the day, and the price more than doubled within its first few hours.

How Does Pepina Work?

Pepina works as a plain ERC-20 token on Ethereum. Its contract holds only the nine standard ERC-20 functions, the ones that report balances, move tokens and set approvals. It has no owner role and no way to mint, pause or tax trades.

The constructor minted all one billion tokens to the deploying wallet in late October 2026, and with no mint function the supply can't grow.

About a minute later, in one transaction, the deploying wallet opened a Uniswap V3 pool against wrapped ETH and put the whole supply in with no ETH beside it. That single-sided start priced the token near zero, so the first buyers paid almost nothing and each buy pushed the price up. The next 45 transactions in that same block were buys.

About 35 minutes after launch, that pool position moved into a third-party lock contract with an unlock time in January 2027. Before then, a withdrawal from the lock's own withdrawal address reverts with the message "Unlock time not reached". The lock contract is an upgradeable proxy, though, so the honest label is time-locked until January 2027 by a contract its admin can rewrite.

Sells settle as normal, and the pool paid out about 1,633 wrapped ETH on the day of the jump. The lock, the mint function and the sell test are the same checks our guide on how to audit new crypto contracts walks through.

Who Owns Pepina?

In the block that opened trading in late October 2026, 45 wallets bought about 89% of Pepina's one billion tokens, and those 45 wallets still held about 40% of the supply at the late-October close. They paid about 8 ETH in total, under $20,000 at the time.

Each of the 45 is a plain wallet with no contract code, and the 20 largest holders at the late-October close all came from that group. The top 10 held 12.39% of the supply and the top 20 held 22.53%. The largest held 1.41% and had paid about $63 in ETH for 23.25 million tokens in that first block.

The selling came on the day of the jump. The 45 held 57.06% at the previous day's close and 40.34% at the late-October close. That's a net sale of 167.2 million tokens, or 16.72% of the supply. All of it went through one router contract into the pool. The chain shows no tokens coming back to them that day.

Method: the balances come from all 12,426 Pepina transfers between the token's deployment and the late-October close, and they add up to exactly one billion tokens. They match the contract's own balance figure for each of the 20 largest holders.

Pepina Tokenomics

Pepina's supply is fixed at one billion tokens, all created in that single mint, and the chain shows none had gone to the zero address by the late-October close. The contract lives at 0x8Ce3CaC9FE9436E6E4b6539E6853aC1b037daCe4 on Ethereum.

The holder count rose with the price, from 1,680 wallets with a balance at the previous day's close to 2,707 at the late-October close.

Liquidity is the thin part. The pool held 102.3 wrapped ETH and 7.79 million PEPINA when the day ended, worth about $430,000 at its own closing price. Against a fully diluted value of $25.26 million at CoinGecko's close, that's about 1.7% of the coin's value. That day's $7.75 million of trading came to about 18 times the pool's depth.

What Are the Risks of Pepina?

The launch-block wallets. Their remaining 403 million tokens were valued at about $10.2 million at CoinGecko's close, more than 20 times what the pool held. Steady selling from that group would land on a pool far too small to absorb it without a sharp drop.

A lock with an end date and an admin. The pool position is time-locked until January 2027, and after that the lock's withdrawal address can take the liquidity out. Before then, the lock contract's admin can upgrade its code. That kind of liquidity pull is the core risk in our guide to what a rug pull is and how to avoid one.

Name confusion. Pepinu and PEPE trade at their own addresses, and so would any copy that borrows the Pepina name. A swap against the wrong contract buys a different token, so the address in the buying steps below is the one to match.

Is Pepina a Good Investment?

Pepina is a bet on attention alone, since the token has no product or fee income behind it. For the price to hold, new buyers have to keep absorbing whatever the launch-block wallets sell, and those wallets sold hard into the late-October jump.

The record so far favours the sellers. The holder count grew by about 1,000 wallets on the day of the jump, yet over that same day the 45 early buyers cut their holdings by a sixth of the supply.

How to Buy Pepina (PEPINA) Safely

Pepina has no perpetual or order-book spot pair on Phemex, so buying it means a swap on Ethereum.

  1. Confirm the canonical contract on Ethereum, 0x8Ce3CaC9FE9436E6E4b6539E6853aC1b037daCe4, and treat any other address using the name as a different token.

  2. Swap for it on a decentralized exchange by pasting that address, and check the pool's depth and your price impact before you confirm.

  3. Hold the tokens in a non-custodial wallet you control and keep its recovery phrase offline.

Bitcoin and ether trade as crypto futures on Phemex. Futures use leverage, and a leveraged position is closed automatically if losses reach its margin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does pepina mean?

In crypto, Pepina is the name of a frog meme coin on Ethereum that launched in late October 2026. CoinGecko's description calls the character a feminine twist on the Pepe meme, so the name reads as a female Pepe.

Is Pepina the same as PEPE or Pepinu?

Pepina is a separate ERC-20 token with its own contract, launched on Ethereum in late October 2026. PEPE is a different meme coin drawn from the same frog, and Pepinu is an Ethereum token deployed in early 2024.

Who created Pepina?

Pepina's CoinGecko description names no team, and the contract has no owner role. The creator is known only as the wallet that deployed the contract and opened its pool in late October 2026.

Where can I buy Pepina?

Pepina trades through decentralized exchanges on Ethereum, and GeckoTerminal listed one pool for it in late October 2026. It has no Phemex perpetual or order-book spot pair, so match the contract address before any swap.

What is the Pepina price?

On CoinGecko, Pepina's late-October 2026 close was $0.02526, up 159.3% on the day. That valued the whole one billion supply at about $25.26 million, against about $430,000 of liquidity in its pool.

Bottom Line

Pepina's chart shows a meme coin rising on a red day for memes, and its chain shows who sold into that rise. The wallets that bought nearly the whole supply for about 8 ETH were net sellers on the jump, and the two-fifths they still held at the late-October close is the supply the price has to absorb next.
