How Did Adeniyi Abiodun Help Build Sui?
Step 1: A Software Engineer in London, Then a Crypto Business in 2012
He began his career as a software engineer in London, according to a March 2023 interview on the Sui blog. The same interview says he built his first crypto infrastructure business in 2012. His Sui author page places a traditional finance stretch at HSBC, J.P. Morgan and Syncova Solutions before his crypto work.
Step 2: Enterprise Blockchain, Then Novi at Meta
The same page lists enterprise blockchain roles before Meta. He was head of product at VMware and an architect for blockchain cloud platforms at Oracle. He then spent nearly three years at Meta as product lead at Novi Financial, working on the Diem blockchain and the Move programming language.
Libra, the Facebook project where the Mysten founders met, set out to make sending money as easy as sending a message. In the 2023 interview he put it plainly, "We weren't able to realize that dream at Facebook."

Step 3: Co-Founding Mysten Labs and Launching Sui
He co-founded Mysten Labs with four colleagues from the Libra effort at Facebook. Sui's mainnet went live on 3 May 2023, according to Sui's review of its 2023 milestones, with more than 100 validators behind it at launch.

Step 4: Chief Product Officer, From a Handheld to a Digital Dollar
His post of 3 September 2024 opened SuiPlay0X1 pre-orders at $599, with deliveries expected in 2025. Buyers could pay in SUI, SOL or ETH but not in fiat during the reservation period.
On 4 March 2026 he announced that USDsui was live on Sui, a dollar stablecoin issued by Bridge, a Stripe company. The post says Sui carried over $111B in stablecoin transfer volume in January 2026 alone.
A 20 March 2026 post under his name carried Grayscale's case for Sui, and it counts GSUI as Grayscale's fourth Sui-focused product.
The 7 October keynote carries that line to software agents. In the Basecamp announcement of 27 August 2026 he said, "Economic activity is shifting from people clicking checkout buttons to agents transacting on their behalf, continuously and at machine speed."

The record needs its footnote before anyone quotes it. Sui's 17 July 2026 post on the experiment says the 6,086,766 peak ran through "programmable tunnels", offchain payment and state channels that settle to Sui mainnet when they close. So it measures activity inside those channels, and the base chain sees each one when it settles. The same post quotes Kostas Chalkias, Mysten's chief cryptographer, on the result. Chalkias leads the Basecamp attempt as well, and Abiodun's only link to the number is the stage they share on 7 October.
Why Adeniyi Abiodun's Story Matters Beyond Sui
For founders: In 2023 he said Mysten partners with experienced studios because "games have to be fun first". The SuiPlay0X1 he announced in 2024 runs Playtron's operating system and plays Steam and Epic game libraries next to Sui games, and USDsui comes from Bridge's issuance platform. Neither launch asked Mysten to build the whole product alone, and that's the pattern worth copying if you're selling a chain.
For investors: His 20 March post describes GSUI as a staking fund on NYSE Arca that holds SUI and stakes it. The rewards show up in the fund's net asset value, and the post says a buyer needs a brokerage or retirement account but no wallet or private keys. The next stablecoin figure: The USDsui post's only volume figure is January 2026's $111B in stablecoin transfers on Sui. The next monthly figure that Mysten or the Sui Foundation publishes is the one to set against it, because it covers the months after the dollar launched.
