Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has issued zero-interest bonds worth $21 million to EVO FUND, a Cayman Islands-based investment entity, to bolster its Bitcoin reserves. Announced on May 29, the move aims to increase Metaplanet's Bitcoin holdings to 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025. The bonds, which act as short-term, interest-free loans, are due for repayment by November 28, allowing the firm to access capital without interest costs. Currently, Metaplanet holds approximately 7,800 BTC, valued at nearly $840 million, making it the 11th largest corporate Bitcoin holder globally. This strategic accumulation has enabled Metaplanet to surpass El Salvador's Bitcoin holdings, underscoring its aggressive approach in the corporate Bitcoin acquisition race.
