El Salvador has increased its Bitcoin holdings to 6,190.18 BTC, valued at over $674 million, according to the Ministry of Finance. The country added 1 Bitcoin today, continuing its strategy of purchasing 1 Bitcoin daily. Over the past week, El Salvador acquired 8 Bitcoins, and 30 in the last month. Despite an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in December 2024, which included a $1.4 billion loan and a commitment to cease Bitcoin accumulation, El Salvador persists in its Bitcoin acquisition. The IMF had urged El Salvador to revoke Bitcoin's legal tender status and reduce public sector involvement in cryptocurrency. However, the country remains committed to its Bitcoin strategy, as noted by Rodrigo Valdes, director of the IMF's Western Hemisphere Department.
