The UK Treasury is planning to sell over £5 billion worth of Bitcoin assets to address a fiscal shortfall. British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves is considering the sale of Bitcoin assets seized by police, including 61,000 bitcoins from a 2018 Chinese Ponzi scheme. The value of these assets has increased approximately 20-fold since their seizure. To facilitate this, the UK Home Office is developing a Crypto Asset Custody and Disposal Framework to manage and sell these assets, with the project currently in the bidding stage and a maximum sales commission set at £40 million.
