Tencent Holdings Ltd. is exploring a potential acquisition of South Korean game developer Nexon, known for popular titles like MapleStory and Dungeon & Fighter. Discussions have reportedly been initiated with the family of Nexon's late founder, Kim Jong-joo, although it remains uncertain if NXC, the holding company, is willing to sell its stake. Nexon, which went public in Japan in 2011, has seen its shares rise over 10% this year, valuing the company at approximately $15 billion. Previous acquisition attempts by Tencent in 2019 were unsuccessful.
