Sweden's Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer has urged law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to seize cryptocurrency assets linked to criminal activities. The call comes as part of a broader initiative to enhance the confiscation of criminal proceeds, leveraging legislation enacted last November that permits asset seizure without requiring proof of a crime. This allows authorities to confiscate cryptocurrencies if their origins cannot be adequately explained. In support of this initiative, Swedish Democratic Party MP Dennis Dioukarev has proposed that seized Bitcoin be transferred to the Swedish Central Bank to create a national strategic Bitcoin reserve. This move aims to bolster Sweden's financial security by utilizing confiscated digital assets.
