A survey by the Korea Institute of Finance reveals a shift in South Korean virtual asset investment from speculation to strategic allocation. Among respondents aged 20-50, 27% hold crypto assets, which constitute 14% of their total financial assets. Notably, 90% of these investors own cryptocurrencies, with 60% specifically choosing Bitcoin as a core asset. On average, investors hold two different cryptocurrencies and diversify their portfolios as they gain experience. The survey also highlights that 53% of investors aged 50 view cryptocurrencies as part of their retirement planning, while 79% of all investors aim to accumulate significant wealth through their crypto investments. This trend indicates a growing maturity in the approach to virtual asset investment in South Korea.
