Lunar Digital Assets has launched LitVM, a zero-knowledge Layer-2 network for Litecoin, introducing smart contracts to the blockchain originally created in 2011. Built on BitcoinOS and Polygon CDK, and supported by the Litecoin Foundation, LitVM is an EVM-compatible ZK Rollup. This development aims to enhance Litecoin's capabilities by enabling smart contract functions, cross-chain liquidity, and real-world asset support. LitVM is set to expand Litecoin's reach into the DeFi and Web3 ecosystems, offering on-chain use cases such as stablecoin payments and programmable assets like Runes and Lordinals. This initiative marks a significant step in Litecoin's evolution, potentially increasing its utility and adoption in the broader crypto landscape.
