Kyrgyzstan has swiftly established itself as a leading cryptocurrency hub in Central Asia by implementing comprehensive crypto regulations. By October 2024, the country had licensed 126 Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs), the highest in the region, with crypto transactions totaling $4.2 billion in the first seven months of 2024. The government supports the gold-backed stablecoin USDKG and permits banks to offer crypto services. In a strategic move to bolster its crypto industry, Kyrgyzstan appointed Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) as a blockchain and Web3 policy advisor in April 2025. This appointment underscores the nation's commitment to fostering compliant crypto innovation and solidifying its position as a regional leader in the digital asset space.
