Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has identified a new virus, SparkKitty, which targets iOS and Android devices to steal crypto wallet mnemonics. The virus infiltrates applications, capturing images from users' photo albums to find wallet screenshots. It primarily affects cryptocurrency-themed apps, including Coin on the App Store and SOEX on Google Play, which has over 10,000 downloads. SparkKitty shares origins with the SparkCat virus discovered earlier this year. Active since early 2024, it mainly targets users in Southeast Asia and China, though it poses a global threat. Kaspersky has informed Google, leading to the removal of affected apps.
